Meet Dr. Saul Gonzalez

Dr. Saul Gonzalez

Born in California and proud to have called North Carolina home since the age of five, I have deep roots in this state and a genuine love for the communities I’ve had the privilege of serving. I earned my undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill — Go Heels! — and went on to graduate from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine in 2017.

Following dental school, I completed a year-long residency where I gained advanced training in implants, surgical extractions, root canals, and cosmetic dentistry. Since then, I’ve dedicated hundreds of hours to continuing education to ensure my patients receive the highest-quality care.

After six wonderful years serving the Raleigh community, I made my way to Charlotte in 2024 — and I couldn’t be happier to put down roots here. At Lumos Dental Studio, my approach is simple: put you first. I believe every patient deserves to feel welcomed, heard, and confident in their care — never rushed or pressured.

My goal is to create a calm, comfortable environment where you and your family look forward to your visits rather than dreading them. When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me exploring Charlotte’s incredible food and music scene, running the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, or spending time with my Mini Aussiedoodle, Luna. I’d love to hear about your favorite spots around the city! It is truly a privilege to serve this community, and I look forward to meeting you.

Friendly Faces, Thoughtful Support

Astrid Peña

Office Manager

As the Office Manager at Lumos Dental Studio, Astrid is often one of the first friendly faces patients meet. Passionate about creating a welcoming and stress-free experience, she works behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly.

You might see her running the front along with Sara, or chairside helping Dr. Gonzalez with treatment or taking X-rays. With almost 10 years of experience in dentistry, Astrid believes that exceptional dental care starts with making patients feel heard, valued, and comfortable.

She takes pride in building genuine relationships with patients and helping create a positive experience from the moment they walk through the door. Outside of the office, Astrid enjoys dancing and spending time with friends and family.

Sara Uicker

Insurance and Patient Coordinator

Sara is our Insurance and Patient Coordinator overseeing the care of new and existing patients and processing their insurances. She is a Matthews, North Carolina, native who went to school at WCU and UNCC to study Education and Biology.

In 2011, she had the honor of joining her family’s dental practice as an Insurance Coordinator. Alongside her father, the dentist, and her mother, the Office Manager, Sara was able to deepen her understanding of the dental field that had been part of her life since an early age.

One of Sara’s passions is being able to help people understand and navigate their dental insurance so they can make the most of the benefits they have invested in. Over the years she has been able to expand her dental knowledge through additional training, such as radiation courses, enabling her to better support the team and patients in as many ways as possible.

When she isn’t at the office, Sara enjoys spending time with her 12-year-old dog, Bowie, walking all over Charlotte and spending time with her friends and family.
